David Jones completes Death Penalty Certification Training

David Jones, Managing Partner

NLKJ Partner and LaPorte County Chief Deputy Public Defender, David Jones, completed two days of Capital Defense Training in Indianapolis.  The death penalty course was approved by the Indiana Public Defender Commission.  Successfully completing this two day course along with his trial and criminal litigation experience, Mr. Jones is now considered “Qualified Trial Counsel” under Indiana Rule of Criminal Procedure 24 and can be appointed as co-counsel in cases where the Prosecuting Attorney seeks a death sentence.  Currently, Mr. Jones is the only public defender in LaPorte County qualified under Rule 24 to accept co-counsel death penalty appointments.
