This week La Porte County property owners received a “Notice of Assessment” (a lime green sheet) from the County. This notice indicates what the County believes your property is valued at for real estate tax purposes. If you believe this value is too high, then you can appeal it to the County. However, you must act fast as the time to appeal is short. If you wait until you get your tax bill next year, then you’ll be too late.
