Newby Lewis Kaminski & Jones, LLP is pleased to announce that Alyssa Speichert has joined the law firm.
Alyssa is a native of Lake County. She graduated from Hanover Central High School in 2010 and attended Indiana University – Bloomington, where she was a member of the Hutton Honors College. She was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society in 2013. In 2014, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in criminal justice and American studies, graduating with high-distinction honors. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State University College of Law, graduating summa cum laude.
While attending law school, Alyssa participated in the Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute, clerked for the Lake County Public Defender’s office, interned in the Office of the Chief Counsel for Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Department of Homeland Security, and was Notes Editor for the Michigan State Law Review. She also published an article in the Michigan State Law Review which explored the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and how certain provisions stop victims of state-sponsored terrorism from obtaining relief.
Alyssa is licensed to practice law in Indiana state courts and the U. S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. She is also a member of the LaPorte County Bar Association.
