Bill concentrates a significant part of his practice representing school systems, including the La Porte Community School Corporation, Michigan City Area Schools, New Prairie United School Corporation, Metropolitan School District of New Durham Township, South Central Schools, Hanover Community School Corporation, and Oregon-Davis Community School Corporation, among others.

He is a frequent presenter at the Indiana School Board Association’s School Law Seminar and Indiana School Board Association’s School Board Summer Academy.

Additional Information

Bill also concentrates on family law and criminal defense, and is a contributor to our Criminal Defense Blog. He serves as a Deputy Public Defender for La Porte County, having done so since 1994.

Admissions & Memberships

Bill is admitted in Indiana and the U.S. District Courts (Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, U.S. Court of Appeals, and Seventh Circuit). He is a member of the of La Porte City Bar Association, La Porte County Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Indiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Indiana Public Defender Council. In addition, he is a member of the National School Boards Association, the Council of School Attorneys, and the Indiana School Boards Association. He is a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.

Leadership & Recognition

Bill is the past Chair of the La Porte Hospital foundation, Past Chair of the La Porte County United Way, Past Chair of the La Porte County Chapter of The American Cancer Society, and is Chair-Elect for the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Diocese of Gary’s Education Commission.
