Articles & Seminars

Throughout Mark’s career he has been a frequent speaker at continuing legal education (CLE’s) seminars.

From 1992 through 2007 Mark served on the presenter panel with fellow trial attorneys and state trial judges at the Professional Education Systems Institute (PESI) evidence seminar in Merrillville, Indiana.  This was an interactive seminar attended by practicing attorneys in Northwest Indiana.  Mark prepared and researched evidence issues for the seminar.  The seminars were well received by practicing attorneys.

Admissions & Memberships

Mark is licensed and has been granted the privilege to practice law in all courts in Indiana, including the Federal District Courts. He is a member of: The Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, Defense Research Institute, American Board of Trial Advocates, International Association of Defense Counsel, Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, La Porte County Bar Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association. He is also a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.

Leadership & Recognition

Mark has earned the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell national peer review rating (AV) for legal ability and professional ethics. He has been voted by his peers to be included in the Best Lawyers in America every year since 2007. He was voted by his peers as the Best Lawyers’ “2015 Lawyer of the Year” in the South Bend area for Insurance Law and Best Lawyers’ “2014 Lawyer of the Year” in the South Bend area for Defendants Medical Malpractice Law. Mark also has been voted by his peers as being in the top 5% of all Indiana attorneys from 2004-2006 and from 2008-2017. In 2008, Mark was accepted into the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (membership by invitation only). In 2006 he was accepted into the International Association of Defense Counsel (membership by invitation only). In 2002 Mark was accepted into the American Board of Trial Advocacy (membership is by invitation only) Mark served on the Board of Directors of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana from 1995-2001, and is the former Editor-in-Chief of the Indiana Civil Litigation Review. He has served as Second District Council member of the Litigation Section of the Indiana State Bar Association.

Mark has published numerous professional articles.  He has been a speaker at many professional seminars.  He was a contributing author to the Indiana Annotations to the Evidence Workshop Handbook, published by Professional Education Systems, Inc. and was an annual presenter of same from 1992 – 2007.

Mark was Clerk to Hon. Robert H. Stanton, Judge, 3rd District Indiana Court of Appeals, from 1981 through 1983 when he joined the law firm. He became a Partner in 1989, and has been a Co-Managing Partner since 1997.

Education

Mark graduated in the top 10 of his class from the Valparaiso University School of Law in 1981.
